The Harley-Davidson Euro Festival is back; as every year, it’s a momentous event for our commune and the Golfe de St-Tropez.
Its benefits are huge, both commercially and financially, and also in terms of image and reputation. The Euro Festival undoubtedly gives an added dimension to the work we are doing, each in our own way, to revitalise our region and provide its people with jobs, contracts, customers and, indeed, with leisure activities, since for many of us this event constitutes great entertainment.
For those who still remain to be convinced (if there are any), you just have to look at the impressive number of spectators lining the roads on the day of the big parade. Thousands of people applaud this cavalcade of motorcycles that take some of us back to legendary pictures of film stars astride their Harley-Davidsons.
It’s now an unmissable event that all decision-makers in the Golfe de St-Tropez are pleased to welcome and see it made permanent. In the spring it’s also a nice way to start off the summer season on which our region’s economy so much depends.
So, a hearty welcome to all bikers and contributors to the success of this rally. I hope they have four days of festivities and enjoyable experiences on the Var highways in the May sunshine reflected off the chrome and steel of their machines.
Mayor of Grimaud
As we leave behind the 30th anniversary year of H.O.G.® and the 110th anniversary of Harley-Davidson®, there is no let-up in the provision of spectacular events for Harley® fanatics.
Once again, Harley-Davidson will be colonising the Golfe de St-Tropez for four days of fun in the sun. From the exclusive coastal resort of St-Tropez, around the coast to the beachfront village where the event takes place, to the stunning surrounding countryside and the picturesque hilltop village of Grimaud, this is truly one of the most magnificent settings for a quintessential H.O.G. party.
As ever, the main stage will dominate the beachfront scenario, with a host of fantastic live acts whipping up the crowd every evening. The Harley Village will offer up its usual mixture of traders, dealers and customisers, while there will be all the food and drink options you have come to expect.
On Friday the attention turns away from the coastline as we move inland to the beautiful village of Grimaud, where the Custom Bike Show takes place. Always a popular feature, the best creations from across Europe come together in the crowded village square to compete for prizes across numerous categories, including the prestigious Best In Show. If you’re just there to marvel at others’ brilliant bikes, make sure you cast your vote towards the People’s Choice!
Saturday, of course, is parade time. Line up alongside thousands of other Harley-Davidson riders, as the parade snakes through the exclusive resort of St-Tropez, where the yachts of the multi-millionaires complement the chrome and the roar of V-Twins, before heading along the coast and then inland. It is truly a sight to behold as the thousands of bikes weave through the narrow, cobbled streets of Grimaud, as the locals come out to watch in awe as the mass of metallic magic rumbles through their sleepy village.
As another riding season appears on the horizon, make sure the dates are in your diary for the traditional kick-off event – see you in the south of France next May!
